Kuwait Emir pardons Filipino maid in murder case

The ruler of Kuwait has pardoned a Filipino maid who was convicted of murdering her employer’s 7-year-old son, and she will soon be allowed to return home to her family, the Philippine the vice president said Thursday.
A Kuwaiti court convicted May Vecina of slitting the throat of 7-year-old Salem al-Otaibi with a kitchen knife in January 2007. She was also found guilty of attempting to murder the boy’s 11-year-old brother and 18-year-old sister, who both survived.
