30 Million Dollars for winning the world cup

The total prize money on offer for the tournament was confirmed by FIFA as $420 million (including payments of $40m to domestic clubs), a 60 percent increase on the 2006 tournament.^[25] Before the tournament, each of the 32 entrants receive $1 million for preparation costs. Once at the tournament, the prize money would be distributed as follows:^[25]

$8 million – To each team exiting after the group stage (16 teams)

$9 million – To each team exiting after the round of 16 (8 teams)

In a first for the World Cup, FIFA made payments to the domestic clubs of the players representing their national teams at the tournament. This saw a total of $40 million paid to domestic clubs. This was the result of an agreement reached in 2008 between FIFA and European clubs to disband the G-14 group and drop their claims for compensation dating back to 2005 over the financial cost of injuries sustained to their players while on international duty, such as that from Belgian club Charleroi S.C. for injury to Morocco’s Abdelmajid Oulmers in a friendly game in 2004, and from English club Newcastle United for an injury to England’s Michael Owen in the 2006 World Cup.

Why iPhone iOS 4 is disappointing?

I have upgraded my iPhone 3 GS to the new OS, iOS 4, and had many many troubles since then. The first problem was with iTunes 9.2 where my iPhone stopped syncing and never showed up in the devices list in iTunes when i connected it. I use Windows to sync my content. This problem has been known to so many people around the world and Apple is still not responding to the complains (learn more about the problem). Another problem is the constant crash of the iPod app where it stopped working all at once for no reason!!! (learn more about the problem) one last thing i still don’t get how does the multitasking work?? since every app you open will keep on being open even if you leave it; so would that affect the battery life? would that slow down the phone? would that cause app crashes? i keep on going to the opened apps and closing them in case it affects the already short life battery.

luckily i have a mac that i started syncing my content to it and was able to overcome all the above problems but i am disappointed at the bad way they handled their Windows version of the release.

Electricity Generated VS. Consumed in Kuwait

Since we are facing scheduled and regular power failures from now til September; i decided to look into the matter from a mathematical perspective. First; i did a Google search on the electricity produced and consumed in Kuwait and came up with the information below from the CIA world factbook. Kuwait is ranked 50th largest power consumer in the world where it uses 40,210,000,000 (kWh) a year as recorded in 2007 (source). Moreover, if you compare the figures from 2003 till 2010 you’ll see that we should be in a good position as stated in the CIA world factbook (Sources: Consumption, Source: Production). if you plot the figures together you’ll get the following;

We can obviously conclude that the information mentioned in the CIA world factbook is not necessarily reflecting reality. I then decided to take things more serious and do more than a Google search. I went to the Central Statistics Authority of Kuwait and asked for some numbers and figures. and they were kind enough to provide me with the annual statistical abstract of Kuwait for 2008 and i came up with this graph;

despite the fact that the figures are not identical between the two sources (CIA world factobook and the Central Statistics Authority) but both graphs show higher production volume that is consumed; which is a good thing. Now as you can see we are not supposed to have a problem but we do, you might ask WHY???

From now on it will by analysis and conclusions; please feel free to comment below for corrections and comments. Lets take the whole process step by step. The only reason why power generation and consumption increases is because of the increase in population. Our population (Citizens and Expats) has increased by 60% between 2005 and 2009 which is abnormal.

The increase in population is of course correlates with the demand for power and you can calculate then the amount of average electricity is consumed by a person for that country using the following equation;

Power = Consumption·1,000,000/(365.25·24)/population, where power is in watts and consumption is in MW·h/yr. (source)

but now we have a problem since we countries including Kuwait only do a national census every 5 years we would then know how much average power is consumed by individuals in Kuwait for 2005 which is 197o watts per person. This figure is different from the one mentioned in the Wikiperdia article (LINK) since they are using the population from the CIA factbook which is 2,687,000 but according to Kuwait Central Statistics Authority it is 2,193,651 also according to the CIA factbook Kuwait consumed a total of 36,280,000 (MW·h/yr) while it is 37,908,000 (MW·h/yr) according Kuwait Central Statistics Authority. Meaning we consumed more power for less population according to Kuwait Central Statistics Authority which is 1,970 watts per person and not 1,540. if we take the 1,971 watts per person figure; this means Kuwait is the highest power hungry nation in the world surpassing the United States by ALOT!!!

From now on please keep in mind that it is all assumptions since there are no figures for the number of population between the 5 year census years which leads me to using the 1,971 watts per person consumption rate. I will only use this figure from 2005 to 2009 to keep it real because i think the more we go back in the years; the less power we consume (personal assumption; there were no iPhones back then so we didn’t use much power). Another assumption is a 15% population increase per year which makes senses if you look at the official Kuwait Stats.

so if you take a look at the graph above; it shows how much power is in demand by taking the amount of power needed per person in Kuwait with the number of population which surpasses the amount generated in 2008. As you all may know that we have been taking about the electricity issue for more than 2 years and it is still not resolved. Anyhow; i guess that is pretty much it and please let me know if you have any comments. AND REMEMBER it is all a personal conclusion of the studied figures and numbers available to the general public.

العادة في ديرة شات ما ندش بالسياسة و لكن يات في بالي هذه الفكرة اللي حبيت اشارك فيها اخواني القراء. تم في وقت قصير انتخاب البارونة سعيدة وارسي رئيسة للحزب المحافظ في بريطانيا مما يجعلها أول شخص من أصل غير إنجليزي يترأس هذا المنصب و الذي قد يقودها لقيادة وزراء المملكة المتحدة. و الله هذا انجاز لهذه المرآة المسلمة التي نالت احترام زملائها والذين لا ينظرون إلى أصلها و فصلها و لونها و مذهبها و لكن ينظرون إلى كفائتها. الأمر بالأصل يعتمد على الزملاء و الأشخاص الذي صوتوا لها للوصول لهذا المنصب. كونهم متفهمين و قادرين على استيعاب فكرة جلوس امرأة و هي مسلمة في هذا المنصب لتقود دفة الحزب. و الآن نأتي للمقارنة بين الوضع في الكويت و بين الإنجليز نجد في الكويت عدم تقبل الزملاء الأعضاء لزميلة لهم في المجلس لأنها تتكلم بلهجة تختلف عن لهجتهم و يتهمونها بازدواجية الجنسية و كذلك التصويت في انتخابات غير الكويتية مع العلم بأن النائبة الدكتورة رولا دشتي تعتبر امرأة كويتية بنت كويتي أبا عن جد و كذلك حاصلة على درجة الدكتوارة بكل جدارة من واحدة من أحسن الجامعات في العالم. لماذا لا ينظر هؤلاء الزملاء لعقل هذه المرأة و الإستفادة منها خلال فترة المجلس بدلا من الإتهامات الباطلة و الغير مجدية.

أعود و أقول أن الزملاء هم الذي أوصلوا سعيدة لقيادة دفة الحزب و لو أننا اعتدمنا على رولا فقط في الأمور الإقتصادية في المجلس لكان المجلس و قراراته في وضع أحسن بكثير مما هو عليه في الوقت الحالي و لكن لا حياة لمن تنادي.

We have seen their tease ads for few days now on our local newspapers and they have finally brought us what their ads are all about. apparently the company is developing a mixed-use development and customers would be in love with their project. When i went to check their website … it was not there. I tried different browsers, different internet connections but i still couldn’t connect! i wonder how can you pay all this money and place your website on the ad but it still doesn’t work especially the ad doesn’t say much about the project.

Update: i just checked Kuwait Top Level Domain Name Center and found the following;

The domain SPIRIT.COM.KW is registered.

Holder Name: Spirit Real Estate Development Co.
Registration Date: March 11 – 2010
Expiry Date: March 11 – 2012
ISP: KEMS – Gulfnet International/Kuwait Electronic Messaging Services Co.

Apparently the company registered the domain during the tease ads and a day before the release of the official ad.

How to tether your iPhone 3GS in Kuwait?

since i acquired an iPhone last month, very late adapter, i have been busy trying everything possible without jailbreaking or damaging the original software. I came across the tethering problem today and got a solution to it thanks to Google. the process below can be explained as follows:

The new “iPhone Help Center“, which can be found at help.benm.at, provides the easiest way to enable iPhone Tethering through installing Mobileconfigs directly on your iPhone. No hacking or jailbreaking required! You can also find MMS-Settings for your provider. The Mobileconfig Generator gives you the possibility to create your own Mobileconfig.

here is what you have to do;

go to http://help.benm.at/ from your iPhone Safari
select Tethering under the Features section
look up your country to download a settings profile. in our case Kuwait is not listed so you have to manually create a profile by selecting “create your own”
fill the following blanks;
1. Carriername: Zain
2. APN: pps
3. user: pps
4. password: pps
click “Download”
a file will be downloaded to your iPhone and if you go now to Settings > General > Network you will be able to see Internet Tethering option set to off. be aware that sometimes if you click on the tethering option it won’t work for some reason or another, so you have to try a couple or three times to get it to work.
finally turn the tethering on. it is working perfectly for me now with a USB. have fun.

Warning: make sure you don’t exceed your bandwidth limit to not pay extra for your internet usage.

Where did all these butterflies come from?

I am sure you have noticed the huge number of butterflies all over Kuwait and in case you wondered about the reason behind the sudden increase in butterflied population in Kuwait, we at Deera Chat have done a research and here are some possible answers. But before we get into the answers lets learn more about the nature of our butterflies. The butterflies that are widespread in Kuwait are called “The Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui)”.The most common variety is the painted lady (Vanessa cardui), which is a regular migrant to Kuwait and is more abundant during the cooler months of the year (March and September). This butterfly is a strong flier and, even if settled on the ground, is difficult to approach. The adult is orange in color with black and white markings. Larvae are dark brown with short hairs, and feed on many different kinds of vegetation. The pupa is initially green, later changing to a golden color. It hangs from the twigs of the host plant. Though it passes many countries during its migration, the Painted lady breeds only in certain selected areas. It has been recorded to breed in Bahrain, often in large numbers, and the favorite plant food of its larvae is the Small-flowered mallow Malva parviflora. The caterpillars hide themselves in tens of host leaves, which they tie together with silk until they pupate. Source

My take is that since it is commonly spread and breeds in close areas such as Bahrain, they might have migrated the short distance and have increased in population here in Kuwait. Causes for migration can be blamed on Global warming which would create an appropriate temperature for the Painted Ladies to populate.

Finally i would like to note that all the above is done via Google and if in any case something is wrong please let me know.

A note on Wataniya’s net profit declines by 22.5%

every morning i have two rituals; the first is reading Alqabas and the second is reading my Google Reader update. Since i read Alqabas first, i noted the half page ad by Wataniya Telecom that their profits have went up compared to 2007, which i though is odd because a comparison is to be done to year earlier to the report which is 2008. obviously they were trying to cover up the poor comparison results as you will see in the image below. further more; i noted the following on Reader;

With a year-on-year loss of 22.5%, a net profit of KWD11 million (USD37.9 million) has been posted by Kuwait-based National Mobile Telecommunications Company (Wataniya), for the fourth quarter of 2009.However, its full year net profit was up to KWD108.3 million in 2009, from KWD82.4 million in 2008. No reasons have been revealed by the company behind its declining bottom line.

i believe this is common practice to play with the words and hide the true facts especially in our desperate times which call for desperate measures. A similar story is Zain is dying to sell its African operations to get liquidity coz they are hanging dry but you don’t hear about the liquidity problem of course but you hear about how successful Zain is making TV ads hehehe.

Mr Heath explained that for some time past Kuwait had possessed entire responsibility for the conduct of its international relations and, with Britain’s blessing, had joined a number of international organisations as a sovereign independent State.

I did a little research on the nature of the internet connectivity origin in Kuwait and came up with the following ideas that can summarized in the following lines;

the reason why i have selected the above three countries is to make a more fair comparison on country size and population, since UAE is a much bigger country with higher population, more connectivity would be required, on the other hand Qatar and Bahrain are within the same supply of cable in Kuwait. The point to notice that UAE has 5 existing cables and 2 planned. Qatar also has 2 planned cables to be connected from UAE. So we see some steps are taken to increase the connectivity backbone of the countries surrounding us with no movement from our side! i guess it is important that we strengthen our internet backbone to avoid such interruptions. this was just a brief Google search with the possibility of many technical misunderstandings and mistakes. please let me know what you think.

in case you were wondering what the hell is being built in Messilah for the past few years, we can say that we have an idea. The hotel is to be the first Jumeirah Hotel in Kuwait (which was originally planned to be a Regent Hotel and the first in the Middle East). Jumeirah Messilah Beach is a luxurious beachfront development that will feature 307 rooms and suites, 80 serviced apartments and 12 chalets and 429 parking spaces. Guests of the hotel will also have access to six distinguished restaurants and lounges, a Talise spa, 200-metre private beach, swimming pool and children’s play area, in addition to extensive conference and banqueting facilities. خطوات تأسيس شركة في الكويت

خلال الكورس الأول من دراسة الماجستير قررت إني أسوي دراسة عن صعوبة أو سهولة البدء بعمل تجاري في الكويت. و للقيام بهذه المهمة كان لي أن أخوض تجربة تأسيس شركة في الكويت. و هي كالتالي:

الخطوة 1

الذهاب لوزارة التجارة و الصناعة للإستفسار عن راس المال المطلوب لتأسيس الشركة و كذلك الاوراق المطلوبة و هي كالتالي:

شهادة بيان وحدة من المعلومات المدنية في جنوب السرة أو برج التحرير – يتم استخراجه بنفس وقت المراجعة – و المطلوب لاستخراج الشهادة هو عقد الإيجار الأصلي و البطاقة المدنية الأصلية و وصول الإيجارات الأصلية
بيان كشف حساب لدى البنك. و هو كشف للمبلغ المراد وضعه في حساب الشركة في وقت لاحق كرأس مال. يكون المبلغ حاليا في حسابك الخاص أو محجوز من قبل البنك للتأكد من عدم وجود تلاعب مثل التي كان يسويها مكاتب تخليص المعاملات لحين إصدار رسالة من وزارة التجارة موجهة للبنك لفتح حساب للشركة – يستغرق 24 ساعة من البنك لاستصدار الشهادة كشف الحساب
شهادة التأمينات الإجتماعية بأن مقدم الطلب ليس مسجل كموظف حكومي و يمكن استخراجه من أي فرع من فروع التأمينات – يتم استخراجه بنفس وقت المراجعة

الخطوة 2

تأجير مكتب و يجب التنبه أن يكون المكتب مسجل في ديوان الخدمة المدنية و لديه رقمه الخاصلاستخراج شهادة بيان وحدة – تكلفة 1 دينار و الشهادة صالحة لمدة سنة و هي مطلوبة من وزارة التجارة و الصناعة عن تقديم طلب تأسيس الشركة لأول مرة

الخطوة 3

عند استكمال المطلوب في خطوة 1 و 2 يتم تقديم الأوراق المطلوبة للطباع لعمل طلب تأسيس شركة مع بيان الملاك و حصصهم ليقدم لوزارة التجارة و الصناعة – إذا كانت المعاملة كاملة لا يتم تعطيلها و يتم المتابعة للخطوة التالية بحيث تصدر الوزارة رسالة للتسجيل التجاري للتأكد من عن وجود اسم مطابق لاسم الشركة المزمع تأسيسها

الخطوة 4

التسجيل التجاري في وزارة التجارة يقوم بعمل فحص لاسم الشركة و استخراج رسالة للوزارة بانه يوجد أو لا يوجد اسم مطابق. ان لم يوجد يتم اصدار الرسالة و بعثها مع صاحب العلاقة فورا

الخطوة 5

تقوم وزارة التجارة باستصدار رسالة للبنك المزمع فتح حساب شركة لديه بان يفتح حساب للشركة . يتم استخراجه بنفس الوقت

الخطوة 6

تقديم الرسالة للبنك على أن يتم تحويل المبلغ من حسابك الخاص إلى حساب الشركة و يستغرق يوم إلى بضعة أيام على حسب نظام البنك. يرجى التأكد من اختيار البنك المناسب بحيث أن كل بنك يختلف عن الآخر في نوعية الخدمات و الإجراءات. مثلا البنك الوطني يحتاج إى عمل لجنة خاصة لتقييم نوعية الشركة للسماح أو الرفض بتأسيس الشركة و هذه العملية تستغرق اسبوعين لإكمالها

الخطوة 7

في أثناء فتح الحساب لدى البنك تقوم وزارة التجارة بمخطابة وزارة الداخلية و البلدية للتحق من شخص المؤسسين و كذلك من فاعلية المكتب المؤجر للشركة. تستغرق العملية من يومين إلى أسبوع للحصول على الموافقات التي لا يكون للعميل دور فيها بحيث تخاطب التجارة مباشرة الداخلية و البلدية.

الخطوة 8

في حال الحصول على الموافقات اللازمة و فتح الحساب بعدها يتم التوجه لوزارة التجارة و الحصول على رسالة مخاطبة لوزارة العدل لعمل صيغة عقد التأسيس للشركة

الخطوة 9

التوجه لوزارة العدل و تسليم الرسالة و المعاملة بالكامل على أن تقوم وزارة العدل بمراجعة الموافقات و المعاملة لمدة 3 أيام و من ثم إصدار عقد التأسيس الرسمي

الخطوة 10

يتم تسليم عقد التأسيس لوزارة التجارة و باقي الأوراق لإستلام الرخصة التجارية و السجل التجاري

الخطوة 11

بعدها يتم التوجه للتأمينات الإجتماعية لتسجيل الشخص المؤسس لديهم في الباب الثالث أو الباب الخامس على حسب توجه و رغبة المؤسسيين و في كلا الحاليتين تستغرق العملية من أسبوع إلى عشرة أيام

الخطوة 12

بعد تسليم الاوراق إلى التأمينات الإجتماعية و من دوة انتظار الرد يمكن التوجه لغرفة تجارة و صناعة الكويت لتسجيل الشركة و كذلك عمل طلب للامور التالية

طلب اعتماد توقيع لوزارة الشؤون
طلب اعتماد توقيع للجمارك – يجب عمل الطلب على ورق الشركة من خلال النموذج المطلوب
طلب اعتماد توقيع للادارة العامة للمرور – يستغرق يوم 1
عمل طلب استلام و تسليم للإدارة العامة للجمارك
طلب مفوض قانوني للادارة العامة للمرور – يجب استخراج رقم الموحد للشركة قبل التوجه لعمل هذا الطلب في إدارة تنفيذ الأحكام على الدائري السادس

الخطوة 13

يتم التوجه بعدها لوزارة الشؤون على حسب المحافظة المسجل عليها المكتب لتقديم طلب اعتماد توقيع لديهم و تستغرق العملية من اسبوع إلى اسبوعين

الخطوة 14

بعد الإنتهاء من عمل اعتماد التوقيع يتم طلب شهادة نسبة العمالة من وزارة الشؤون. لإتمام العملية سيقوم مفتش الوزارة بزيارة مكتب و مكان الشركة لمعرفة حجم المكتب و بعدها تقديم تقرير للمدير الذي سيقرر عدد العمالة المسموح استقدامها للشركة. طبعا القرار تقديري و يمكن مناقشته مع المسؤول. بعد التفتيش يستغرق انهاء الطلب 4 أيام- 5 أيام

الخطوة 15

بعد الحصول على اعتماد التوقيع و حصر العمالة من الشؤون يمكن التوجه بالطلبات المزودة من غرفة التجارة إلى الجمارك لتقديم الطلب اعتماد التوقيع و استلام و تسليم و يستغرق 3-5 أيام و للإدارة العامة للمرور للحصول على اعتماد التوقيع لديهم و يتم الحصول على في نفس الوقت والإدارة العامة للهجرة للحصول على الشخية الإعتبارية و الرقم الموحد و من ثم تقديمه للحصول على الموافقة على طلب مفوض قانوني من ادرة تنفيذ الأحكام

الخطوة 16

بعد الحصول على كل هذه الموافقات يمكن التوجه للإدارة العامة للمناقصات و التسجيل هناك كغير مصنف لحين التصنيف

في حال نسيان أحد الخطوات الرجاء التنويه و يرجى العلم بان الخطوات المذكورة تم الحصول عليها من خلال تجربة شخصية خلال عمل الدراسة و يمكن عملها بطرق أخرى

و بالنهاية نقول بأن تأسيس شركة بالكويت يستغرق 40 يوم

ماده 192

يجب أن يكتب عقد تأسيس الشركة ذات المسئولية المحدودة في محرر رسمي وأن يتضمن البيانات الآتية :
- اسم الشركة وعنوانها مع إضافة عبارة ” شركة ذات مسئولية محددة ”
- أسماء الشركاء وألقابهم.
- مركز الشركة الرئيسي.
- الأغراض التي أسست من أجلها الشركة.
- مقدار رأس مال الشركة ، والحصص النقدية أو العينية التي قدمها كل شريك ، مع وصف دقيق للحصص العينية وقيمتها.
- شروط التنازل عن الحصص.
- مدة الشركة.
-أسماء من عهد إليهم بإدارة الشركة من الشركاء وغيرهم ، وأسماء أعضاء مجلس الرقابة في الحالات التي يوجب فيها القانون وجود هذا المجلس.
- كيفية توزيع الأرباح والخسائر.
يجوز أن يتضمن عقد تأسيس الشركة أحكاما خاصة بتنظيم حق استرداد حصص الشركاء وكيفية تقدير ثمنها عند مباشرة هذا الحق وبتكوين مال احتياطي غير المال الإجباري ، وبتنظيم مالية الشركة وحساباتها ، وبأسباب حلها.

ماده 193

لا يتم تأسيس الشركة ذات المسئولية المحدودة إلا إذا وزعت جميع الحصص النقدية بين الشركاء ودفعت قميتها كاملة ، وسلمت الحصص العينية إلى الشركة. ويجب أن توزع الحصص النقدية أحد البنوك المعتمدة ، ولا تؤدي إلا للمديرين المعينين في عقد تأسيس الشركة متى قدموا شهادة تثبت قيدها في السجل التجاري.

ماده 194

يجب أن يبين في عقد تأسيس الشركة كل حصة عينية وقيمتها المقدرة واسم صاحبها ومقدار حصته في رأس المال في مقابل ما قدمه. ويكون مقدم الحصة العينية مسؤولا تجاه الغير عن قيمتها المقدرة لها ، فاذا ثبت وجود زيادة في هذا التقدير وجب أن يؤدي الفرق نقدا للشركة. ويسأل باقي الشركاء متضامنين عن أداء هذا الفرق للشركة ، إلا إذا اثبتوا عدم علمهم به.

ماده 195

يجب قيد الشركة ذات المسئولية المحدودة في السجل التجاري وفقا لاحكام القانون.
ولا تكسب الشركة الشخصية المعنوية إلا بعد قيدها ، ولا يجوز لها قبل ذلك مباشرة أعمالها.

I always wondered how these cameras work and what is the technology behind them so i did a little Google search which lead me to the following interesting facts:

Speeding Camera Supplier in Kuwait

The First Joint Group is considered as the only company in Kuwait in the filed of supplying installing, operating and maintaining speed cameras, light signals and mobile cameras. The Group is the exclusive agent of robot- Germany, a company specialized in the manufacturing of these types of cameras.
The First Joint Group primary activity is traffic monitoring cameras management and operation project in the State of Kuwait. This project started in 2000, through a tender with the Ministry of Interior, to supply them with light signal and speed cameras. In 2001 and 2003 , the number of cameras was increased according to the request of the Ministry of Interior. In 2008, digital cameras were added as a more advanced system in photography and clarity of the image, as part of the plan for development of the project. The First Joint Group installs cameras at the locations specified by the General Traffic Department, as well as installing cameras in cars.
The First Joint Group signed an agreement with Zain Telecommunication Company to provide computerized enquiry system about traffic violations through SMS. Further, the company is on its way to develop this service and added the multi media messages (MMS) to send a photograph of the violating vehicle taken by the traffic monitoring cameras. The computerized enquiry service for traffic violations started actually through SMS on 29 March 2004. Subscription in this service (my fine) exceeded all expectations, as the number of subscribers in 45 days exceeded one thousand and twenty subscribers, resulting in the payment of these fines without delay

Speeding Camera Specifications

Speeding Cameras in Kuwait are use invasive loop technology which has Two induction loops in the crossing area guarantee unambiguous detection of speed and/or red light offences.

Combined speed and red light monitoring in a single device, but which can also be used solely for speed or red light monitoring.
1. Monitoring of up to four traffic lanes
2. Digital photo documentation including all important information
3. Easy rotatability through Plug & Play
4. Remote-control by TraffiNet
Photo documentation is performed using the digital SmartCamera, which has a resolution of up to 11 megapixels. It is therefore possible to monitor one to four traffic lanes.
The sequence before and after the traffic offence is also recorded by the additional sequential or IP video camera. When the system is used for combined red light and speed monitoring, two induction loops per lane are embedded in the surface of the motorway for recording the vehicles. When the vehicle travels over the first loop with a red signal showing, the camera is triggered a first time.
The camera takes a second picture for complete logging of further travel as soon as the vehicle passes over the second loop. In the green phase, the unit can be used for speed monitoring. In this case, the time interval between passage over both loops is measured and the speed is calculated with the aid of the travel-time law. The camera is triggered if the set limit is exceeded.

I was watching Diggnation Episode 241 where Kevin and Alex mentioned David Cross‘s & Bob Odenkirk‘s Pussydoodles video clip. It is funny, can see below, but when you go and Google search the term”Pussydoodles” you get hit with Qualitynet’s block site!!! The problem is when you Google “Penis doodle” from Superbad the movie, you don’t get hit with the block!!! I think the filters are getting stronger and stronger and we all have to do something about them.

Hope they don’t block our site for this reason

Deera Chat is currently running Google Apps and using all Google standalone server services and it was and still working great without the need for a third party, especially companies like Qualitynet. Bait Al Arab Kuwait State Stud has been authorized by the Hunting & Equestrian Club to organize the 1st Kuwait Arabian Horse National Championship Show on the 17th and 18th of February 2010 at the Hunting & Equestrian Club’s venue. Arabian horse lovers of the neighboring countries, Middle Eastern countries, Europe and United States were expressing their interest in coming to Kuwait and seeing the First National Championship show wit the affiliation of European Conference of Arab Horse Organization (ECAHO). There will be an international show in Abu Dhabi just few days before this event and another international show in Qatar just few days after the 1st National Championship show in Kuwait. و الله وزارة المواصلات شادة الحيل و حاجبين 98 موقع اباحي خلال سنتين مثل ذكر في جريدة الوطن اليوم:

تمكنا على مدى العامين الماضيين بالتعاون مع الشركات المزودة لخدمات الانترنت من حجب ما يقارب (98) موقعا وهذا لا يعني انتهاء المشكلة، فتلك المواقع واصحابها اشبه بالفيروسات شديدة التكاثر، وهنا اشيد بدور الشركات المزودة وكذلك تفاعل ادارة مكافحة الجرائم الالكترونية مع وزارة المواصلات وتقديمهم الدعم اللازم لمكافحة هذه المواقع التي تبث السموم بالمجتمع.

على حسب تقرير التك كرنش من قبل 4 سنوات فانه يفتح ما يقرب 260 موقع يوميا. و غير هذا يعني في الف طريقة و طريقة تتخطى حواجز الوزارة و مثل الماي. المشكلة احنا في عهد مختلف و ما تقدر تصكر على عقول الناس باي طريقة كانت. الانفتاح اكبر من ان وزارة ما تقدر تحصل فلوسها من مشتركيها فما بالكم بحجب هل القدر من المواقع.

Jazeera Airways Situation

I was flying back from Dubai to Kuwait last night on Jazeera and i was the last one to get on board. While i was stepping into the plane i told the attendant (aka waiter) that i wanna be the first one to step out of the plane once we arrive so he decided to place me in the Jazeera Plus section which was nice of him. While we were flying the person in front of me needed some change from the waiter but the waiter didn’t have any so he came and asked me if i have any change in Dirhams and i said yes and gave him 35 Dirhams assuming he would give it back before we land. We landed safely and the guy didn’t return the money yet. I had to make a decision whether to confront him and ask for my money back or just keep quite since he upgraded me to the plus section. I decided that the upgrade weighs better than the 35 Dirhams i “loaned” him so i kept quite and told him that he killed his favor was his bad gesture. it wasn’t nice. What would you have done if you were me???

We have been trying to fix the Feed problem for few days now and finally got it to work. … actually we have to move our content out and then in to try a fresh WP installation which caused few podcast episode file misplacements … so we are tying to get our house like it used to before … the last 10 episodes should be working fine but the rest are gradually being fixed step by step. Kuwaiti telco Zain has launched its international telephone service aboard Wataniya Airways flights, Kuna has reported. Passengers using the service will be able to receive calls while in flight and use SMS messaging, as well internet and Blackberry services. There was no mention of the rates and regulation on flight. I don’t want the passenger next to me talking loud like hell into my ears just because he can’t hear the other side of the phone.

Kuwait and France ink deal on nuclear cooperation

Kuwait and France on Thursday inked an initial deal on nuclear cooperation that includes exchanging expertise on the field, the official KUNA news agency reported. The agreement encourages the peaceful use of atomic energy to bring in vital energy resources such as electricity, the report said.

The report however did not specify details of the cooperation between the Fourth largest exporter of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and France.

Pocketing around 40 percent of the world’s proven oil reserves, Gulf oil exporters in recent years have stepped up their pursuit for nuclear technology to meet an ever surging demand for energy.

Last December, the United Arab Emirates signed a 75-billion-dirham (about 20.4 billion U.S. dollars) agreement with South Korea on the construction of four nuclear power plants in the country. (1 U.S. dollar = 3.673 UAE Dirham)

Kuwait plans $698m redevelopment of airport

Over the next few years, the passenger capacity of the Kuwait International Airport will increase to accommodate twenty million passengers annually, the chief of the Department of Civil Aviation said on Monday.

Speaking to reporters, Fawaz al Farah said that at present, seven million passengers pass through the airport annually.
The decision to increase passenger capacity comes after Kuwait has seen an increase in traffic throughout 2009.

In the year, KIA saw a 26% increase in the number of passengers passing through its terminals, spiking in September as travellers took advantage of the Eid Al Fitr holidays.

This increase in passenger traffic saw the revenues earned by the airport shoot up to an estimated $62.89 million.

Speaking to KUNA, Abdullahameed Dashti, deputy manager of the civil aviation department’s financial and legal affairs, said that redevelopment contracts worth $224.5 million are already in the books.

The money will go towards streamlining the airport’s infrastructure and improving its facilities.

Dashti added that over the next two years, the airport expects to spend a minimum of $698.5 million in improving the airport, upgrading buildings, fire stations, rescue centres and service roads.

He also said that the purchasing of new radar equipment and communication services would be on the agenda.

As plans for the redevelopment continue, al Farah added that the Kuwaiti airline, Jazeera has expressed an interest in operating flights to Iraq, an indication that the infrastructure to handle larger passenger numbers would soon be needed.

He also noted that an Iraqi airline company has asked the Kuwaiti government if it could operate out of the Gulf Arab state. He said that no start up date had been set, but that the government had accepted the request.
During the next two years, Al Farah plans to begin redevelopment work that will see the airport double its passenger capacity size.

أوضح ديوان الخدمة المدنية أن الباحثين عن العمل لا يزالون يترددون في الالتحاق بالجهات غير الحكومية، مؤكدا ان الغالبية العظمى من الخريجين والباحثين عن العمل يفضلون العمل في القطاع الحكومي، وذلك لعدة اسباب منها تفوق مزايا العاملين في القطاع العام على المزايا المقررة لنظرائهم في الجهات غير الحكومية.
وأشار الديوان في مذكرته التي ارسلها للنائب د. وليد الطبطبائي ردا على سؤال لوزير الدولة لشؤون مجلس الوزراء روضان الروضان الى انه صدور قانون دعم العمالة ساهم في زيادة اعداد الملتحقين بالعمل لدى الجهات غير الحكومية مطالبا بضرورة توفير القدر المناسب من الامان الوظيفي للكويتيين الذين يعملون في القطاع الخاص.
واقترح الديوان لتحقيق الامان الوظيفي انشاء نظام تأمين ضد البطالة لدى المؤسسة العامة للتأمينات الاجتماعية، وكذلك تطوير آلية فض المنازعات العمالية عبر تطوير التشريعات القائمة لتبسيط اجراءات التقاضي.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Dubai got a $10 billion lifeline from oil-rich Abu Dhabi to save one of its prized companies from imminent default Monday, calming fears for now about the city-state’s shaky finances. Dubai’s main stock market spiked more than 10 percent on the news.

Dubai World — a sprawling conglomerate with assets ranging from the oceanliner Queen Elizabeth 2 to luxury retailer Barney’s New York — had been up against a Monday deadline to repay a pile of loans from its Nakheel property division. Some $4.1 billion of the emergency funds will be used to pay off those bills. The rest will go to shore up Dubai World itself.

Dubai officials’ reluctance to fully stand behind Dubai World’s $60 billion in debts had raised serious concerns about the emirate’s creditworthiness, and the move by Abu Dhabi appeared aimed at quashing those worries before they undercut confidence in the United Arab Emirates as a whole. The two emirates share control of the UAE, a federation of seven semiautonomous city-states.

Authorities also softened their stance Monday, vowing that the city-state was committed to “transparency, good governance and market principles.” Officials outlined a legal framework that promised to increase openness and protect creditors in future dealings with the conglomerate, offering lenders further reassurance in a country where formal bankruptcy proceedings are largely untested.

Climate change in Kuwait Bay

Since 1985, seawater temperature in Kuwait Bay, northern Arabian Gulf, has increased on average 0.6°C per decade. This is about three times faster than the global average rate reported by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Differences are due to regional and local effects. Increased temperatures are having profound effects on key habitats and on power generation the Arabian Gulf.

Researcher Dr Thamer Al-Rashidi of the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, said: “Because the waters of Kuwait Bay are well mixed by the tides, measurements of sea surface temperature can be used to assess temperature trends over time in the bay as a whole.”

He and his colleagues used data on sea surface temperature (1985-2007) remotely sensed by a number of polar orbiting satellites to assess warming in Kuwait Bay and the Gulf region.

The data were ‘ground truthed’ by direct measurements of sea surface temperature in the region, and are in accord with air temperature trends recorded at Kuwait airport, and verify trends found in satellite data.

They found that the sea surface temperature of Kuwait Bay increased over the period at an average rate of around 0.62°C per decade, with an uncertainty of plus or minus 0.01°C. This is about three times the rate of average global increase estimated by the IPCC.

The increase was greatest in the early summer and least during winter months. The length of summertime increased almost twice as fast as peak summertime temperature. In 1998 and 2003, the monthly measurements of sea surface temperature showed unusually high peaks in summer temperature coincident with El Niño events – periodic warming of the atmosphere and ocean affecting weather in many parts of the world.

Is the Dubai debt crisis overblown?

We all have heard of the reports and news about Dubai’s financial disability. It seems that people acted like they did not know about the financial situation of Dubai which was built on debt. I was surprised that analyst did not start reporting about how would Dubai turnout after the world financial crisis as if they have shut the blinds on it. Also seems like everyone was so convinced that Abu Dhabi would ride an Arabic Stallion to go save Dubai if it sinks in Debt.

Other reports have mentioned the fact that Jewish media, which is ALL media, have been organizing the media attacks on Dubai. Israel have been losing the financial and tourism grounds to Dubai due to the more political stability it provides to money people. We all know Dubai had done some major money mistakes and Abu Dhabi will come and save the scene at the end of the day but we have to remember that this was expected and we should have known that from before the world financial crisis.

Audiobook Review: I am Legend

For starters, the book is different from the movie we watched in 2007 by Will Smith. Robert Neville was white in the book but he wasn’t in the movie, obviously. There are other differences but both book and movie were good. Also the “Darkseekers” Robert was fighting in the movie were just ugly and crazy but in the book there were vampires. I believe the book had a more interesting ending. The book exhibited two different types of vampires. Vampires who are self aware and are able to control It the disease and others who were just freaking crazy vamps. The book ended with …. i don’t wanna ruin it for you guys. Anyway i enjoy both the book and movie … and i give it two thumbs up …

I have been having a hard time listening to Audiobooks without having seen them in reality either in a movie or a TV show. The book is completely different from the audiobook. The writer wastes many words on tiny details that are hardly relevant to the story which makes it a slow story. The ending is not a significant ending and kind of sad. I like happy endings and this book didn’t really have one.

Anyway i give it two thumbs down.

Lufthansa can now twitter your location to your friends

Lufthansa has rolled out an online tool designed to allow air travelers to share updates during their journeys via Twitter and Facebook. (Jazeera Airways, Emirates, and Kuwait Airways are all included)

Called MySkyStatus, the application takes users’ flight information, including departure and arrival data, and matches it to Lufthansa’s feed of airline traffic. The result: automated tweets or Facebook status messages when flights take off and land, as well as updates en route.

Lufthansa digital agency Profero in New York devised the tool, available for any flight, as a simple way to prove the brand’s differentiation, which is its “passion for precision,” according to Profero North America CEO Wayne Arnold.

That passion manifests itself in many ways at the airline. An upcoming ad campaign will tout Lufthansa’s industry-leading stats for on-time arrivals and its policy of tasting wines at 30,000 feet, since wines’ flavor can change at high altitudes.

The big question is “what are they going to be used for?”. I think the tablet has a very limited use and limited audience … the only thing that would attract new audience is if it introduces the tablet in a whole new form different from the tablets we have in hand. we need this to be the iPhone of tablets.

Last week i was in Dubai and i took Dubai Metro. I gotta say it rocks … it is easy to use and saves lots of Taxi money. It is clean, easy to use, and cheap. One drawback is food and drinks are not allowed inside the metro stations and cabins. also many of the stations are not opened yet so the current route bypass many which would make the trips much longer than what they are now, say 20 mins from airport to Emirates Mall. An addition of WiFi would make things nicer

my favorite podcaster will be in Dubai in 2 day for the TEDx conference which i didn’t know about until i heard Leo talk about it on TWIG. if you are familar with the TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) conference then this would be easy to explain.

Google Wave Invites were out few days ago and it is the hottest invite demand since Gmail in 2004. People are not sure what exactly it does it yet but you can watch Google’s IO loooong video about this new project. Google first pitched it as a new way of doing email but users are saying it is more of a real life document collaboration tool. When you say real life … does it mean it will compete with Twitter? will compete with the Twitter wanna be Facebook?

since it is a collaborative tool … getting an invite at the moment won’t serve you much since you need people you know to collaborate with …. so how about this Deera Chat listeners we all go to eBay, we purchase a $20 invite each and we collaborate with each other about how much we love Deera Chat

P.S. and if you have invites you can spare … i don’t mind getting one and for Musaed too of course :0

Follow up: Mac vs. Pc

I am planning on purchasing a new laptop which happens to be a PC. After three years of using a Mac, i realized it is not for me for the following reasons:

There is still no Office solution that can do and perform as good as MS Office especially MS Excel. I have to go for a PC since MS Office is irreplaceable.

i guess that is pretty much it. MS. Office is the only reason why i want to switch back, because i know how powerful this tool is and how better its use is on a PC. yes, Macs are sexy, are good for browsing, but that is it. since Windows 7 has been tested and got some really good reviews, there is nothing to hold me back from getting a sexy Dell.

so i will be traveling to Gitex in Dubai by the end of this month to get me a Dell Studio XPS 13 inches with Windows 7.

Farewell MAC. I hate you.

I have been watching True Blood since it was firs aired on HBO last year and man i was happy. Not because of the 10 sex scenes in each and every episode, well may be, but because of the new take on vampires the show and writers are introducing. That led me to the original novel the show was based on “The Southern Vampire Mysteries” by Charline Harris. The story got everything from Vampires, Shape shifters, Werewolves, to fairies and more. I didn’t really “read” the book the 9 released books (more to come soon) but listened to the audio version of them by audible. And man i can swear by their audio books. They are just amazing. Highly recommended.

World Bank warns Kuwait about education system

The international organization also warned that the perpetuation of Kuwait’s existing education structure may render the country’s high school certificates unrecognized by major academic institutions in the future, Al Watan reported on Saturday.

IOC threatens to ban Kuwait from Olympic movement

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — The International Olympic Committee says Kuwait will be suspended from the Olympic movement if it does not change its sports laws within six weeks.

The IOC’s executive board Tuesday gave Kuwait a July 31 deadline to amend a law which currently allows the state to interfere in elections for positions in sports organizations.

The charter allows the IOC to sanction a National Olympic Committee if a government interferes in its independent work.

The IOC said it had spent two years working to find a solution with the Kuwait-based Olympic Council of Asia and officials.

If the suspension takes effect, Kuwaiti athletes and officials will be barred from Olympic events and business.

A Kuwaiti court convicted May Vecina of slitting the throat of 7-year-old Salem al-Otaibi with a kitchen knife in January 2007. She was also found guilty of attempting to murder the boy’s 11-year-old brother and 18-year-old sister, who both survived.

Fitch Ratings has affirmed and withdrawn Kuwait-based Global Investment House’s Long-term foreign currency Issuer Default Rating (IDR) of ‘D’, Short-term foreign currency IDR of ‘D’, Long-term local currency IDR of ‘D’, Individual Rating of ‘F’, Support Rating of ’5′ and Support Rating Floor of ‘No floor’.
At the same time, Fitch has affirmed the Long-term local currency rating of ‘CC’ assigned to the company’s KWD50m bond issue, and removed the Rating Watch Negative (RWN). The agency has simultaneously withdrawn the ratings, including the Recovery Rating of ‘RR4′, it had assigned to the bond issue.

Fitch will no longer provide analytical or rating coverage on the company.

Corruption and bribery is perceived to be increasing in Kuwait, according to the 2009 Global Corruption Barometer, a new study that was conducted by Transparency International (TI), an international anti-corruption watchdog. The results of the survey were released yesterday. Some 20 percent of the respondents in Kuwait claimed to have paid a bribe themselves or knew someone in their household who did in the past year. “Kuwait’s average (perceived corruption) was higher this year than the previous year and was higher when compared globally,” explained Tamara Kamhawi, TI program coordinator for Middle East and Africa.

The first American Eagle Outfitters store in the Middle East should open early next year.

South Side-based American Eagle Outfitters Inc. said Wednesday as it reported first-quarter profits that it signed a franchising agreement with an international retail operator, M.H. Alshaya Co., and will look for other opportunities overseas.

The company, headquartered in Kuwait, plans to open a series of AE stores throughout the Middle East in the next several years, CEO Jim O’Donnell told investors in a conference call. American Eagle won’t have to invest any capital and will have minimal involvement in operations, he said, but the deal could generate “significant” returns.

We know girls might think this is nasty but hey its how we function! so what they did is, they attached a small camera on the puppies and took pictures of the girls who came and pet the puppies … and because of the fact the puppies are puppies, the girls had to bend and boom pictures are taken … it is an interesting experiment which i don’t think can be done in Kuwait

i just came back from the Kuwait International Golf & Country Club … and man i had FUN. the place is out on Wafra road in the middle of the desert and you won’t believe that there is a huge piece of green land there …. it soft opened last month and it is huge … you don’t have to be a member to play and you can pay the following fees for ;

2 KD : 35 ball long shoot golfing
3 KD : 70 ball long shoot golfing
4 KD 100 ball long shoot golfing
you need to pay an extra 1 KD for the golf club (you get a whole bag with different club sizes)
10 KD : for one hour training
7 KD : for 30 minutes training

and they have other fees to play a whole nine hole game …

to get there:

take road 40 towards Wafra (king Fahad Road)
take Exit 306 towards Wafra (wafra road)
take the second U turn

Kuwait faces power crisis in summer 2010

Kuwait will face an electricity crisis in Summer 2010 because of increasing consumption and the failure to complete essential production capacity increasing projects on time, according to a Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) official. The official emphasized that there are unlikely to be any power problems in 2009 since current production levels are sufficient for requirements, with an additional 720 megawatts to be added to the current 10,120 megawatt capacity in June this year. Major problems are expected in 2010, however, the official said, because of continuing delays in the completion of the 2,000-megawatt Subiya power station in combination with a projected population increase and the building of new towns across the country.

الحكيم يأكل البطيخ

كان الحكيم متربعا على شاطئ البحر، في ليلة اكتمل فيها القمر، وبدا كخبز إيراني، كانت بيده بطيخة بلا بذور، يأكل منها حينا وحينا…

في تلك الليلة كنت أسير باحثا عن شيء لا اعرفه، نظرت الى الحكيم، وجلست بالقرب منه، حييته وقبلت رأسه، وجلست بالقرب منه دون إذن منه، لم يجبني، ولم ينظر إلي، وأكمل أكله للبطيخ الذي بدا لذيذا!

قلت له: يا حكيم الحكماء، وبحار البحارين، أيها العالم بالدنيا والدين، أعطني مما لديك!

نظر إلي قائلا: لا أعطيك فهذه فاكهة للحكماء الواصلين، لا الجاهلين الغافلين، فلا طاقة لك بها!

لم أكن اعرف إن البخل ملازم للحكمة، لكني بادرته ساخرا: مولاي إنها بطيخة، هل هي من فاكهة الجنة!؟

- يا أهبل وهل الجنة سوق خضار حتى تبحث فيها عن الفاكهة! إن جنتك هنا – وأشار الى قلبه – والجحيم هنا، وأشار الى بطني!

هززت راسي فأنا في مواجهة ملك الحكمة وسيدها، فقلت له: يا مولاي ما قصدت سوى إني لا أريد البطيخة، بل الحكمة … عضني يا مولاي!

- اسمح لي فانا لا أعض، اذهب وابحث لك عن كلب يعضك!

السخرية جزء من الحكمة، وكلما ازداد حكمة ازداد سخرية، قلت له: يا مولاي إني ابحث عن الحكمة، إنها ضالتي فأروي عطشي من بئر حكمتك!

- احفظ لسانك يا بني فالحكمة بحر لا بئر، والحكمة لا تروي، بل تزيدك عطشا، ولكن إن شئت أعطيتك بعضه…

صمت الحكيم قليلا لأنه كان مشغولا بأكل البطيخ ثم نظر للسماء وسألني:

- ماذا ترى في السماء؟

أجبته بداهة: أرى النجوم!

- إنك لا ترى شيئا، إني أرى لآلئ كانت على جيد ملاك، قطعت وانتثرت على ثوب سهرة السماء!

- هل أنت عاشق يا مولاي؟

- أنا اعشق روح هذا الكون، أرى بقلب عاشق، وأنت ببطن جائع، فمازلت تراقب هذه البطيخة التي بين يدي!

- يا مولاي قسما برب السماء الممطرة، والأشجار المورقة، لا أريد بطيختك بل حكمتك!

اعتدل الحكيم في جلسته وبدأ يتحدث وكأنه يحدث نفسه:

اعلم إن الله واحد، والمخلوقات كثرة، وهل تعلم ماذا يفعل مخلوق واحد، الواحد قد يساوي مليون إنسان، ومائة مليون إنسان لا يساوون واحد، وهؤلاء انتم!

واعلم إن العرب ثلاث: مختلفون، ومتخلفون، ومخلفون، فالمختلفون قوم يجتمعون، يختلفون علىالاتفاق، ويتفقون على الاختلاف، والمتخلفون قوم يتشابه فيهم الكبير والصغير، العالم والجاهل، يزرعون القبور، وهي زراعة تبور، والمخلفون قوم لو دعاهم داعي العمل، لتلحفوا وتوسدوا الوساد، وما ساد يا بني قوم كانت الوسادة رفيقتهم، واللحاف صديقهم، والغراب دليلهم!

صمت الحكيم واكل من بطيخته، فقلت له: زدني يا مولاي، فحكمتك سحابة ممطرة في صيف قارض … فأكمل الحكيم:

واعلم إن الوزراء عندكم ثلاث: تأزيم، وتقزيم، وتحزيم، أما التأزيم فهم أساس البلاء، هم وكراسيهم سواء، أما التقزيم فهم ممن يصغرون الكبائر، ويكبرون الصغائر، أما التحزيم فلا أعرفهم، ولكني قلتها لزوم القافية!

صمت الحكيم لحظة وأكل بعض من البطيخ، ورمى قشرتها الى السماء، ولم تسقط – فقد مر طائر النورس فوق رأسه وتلاقف بمنقاره قشرة البطيخ – وأكمل الحكيم قائلا:

واعلم يا بني إن النواب ثلاث: استجواب، واستحلاب، واستلاب، أما نواب الاستجواب فهم ممن يقال لهم استجوبوا فيستجوبون، يدفع لهم فيأخذون، أما الاستحلاب فهم الذين يرون البلاد بقرة حلوب، ولبن لا يروب، أما الاستلاب فهم ممن يسرقون الجيوب، مزارعهم في الشمال، وشاليهاتهم في الجنوب!

تعب الحكيم من الكلام وسكت، نظر الى النجوم، وخط على رمال الشاطئ خطا مستقيما، وقال لي:

اعلم إن الخط المستقيم، اقصر طريق للوصول بين نقطتين، ولكن ليس أفضلها، فاحذر يا ولدي … صمت قليلا ثم أكمل حديثه:

واعلم يا ولدي أن الناس عندكم ثلاث: خز، وقز، ومرتز، فالخز قوم يجلسون في المقاهي ويخزون خلق الله، والقز قوم هوايتهم القز في المجمعات وافتتاح المولات، أما المرتز فهم قوم يرتزون في كل ديوان، ومؤتمر، وافتتاح، وصفحة مجتمع!

واعلم يا ولدي أن بلادكم بها ثلاث: دايخ، وبايخ، ونايخ … فالدايخ حكومتكم، والبايخ مجلسكم، والنايخ تاجركم، وسبب مصيبتكم في كل ذلك يا ولدي، إن هايفكم شايخ!

صمت الحكيم وأكمل أكل البطيخ، فقلت له: مولاي يا سيد الحكمة، ويا جسر يوصلني للحقيقة أكمل .. فرد علي دون أن ينظر الى وجهي: يا فتى دعني وشأني، أوتريدني أن أرشدك الى شيء خير مما قلته لك؟ قلت له: نعم يا سيدي … قال: إنه أكل البطيخ!

واستمر في أكله للبطيخ، وابتعدت عنه قليلا، وضعت يداي تحت راسي ونمت على رمال الشاطئ،فاذا بي أرى نجوم السماء، عيون ملائكة تغمز لي، فغمزت لها وابتسمت، ونمت على أصوات أمواج البحر … وصوت أكل البطيخ!

I was reading about two telecom companies thinking about reimposing the land line to cell calls charges after they found that it is costing them too much … First of all i think it is Zain and alwataniya because they didn’t think when they imposed the free calls … and the only reason they made it free because VIVA was offering it free … and i noticed that most of time i try to call from a land line, it doesn’t connect … so in conclusion we live in a place where companies don’t know what the heck they are doing …

Global is to cut 10-20% of its staff

Kuwait’s largest investment company says it has cut about 10 percent of its Kuwait-based staff and reduced salaries by up to 20 percent because of the global financial crisis.

An official at Global Investment House says the company recently lowered operational costs to “cope with international market conditions.” He spoke on condition of anonymity in line with company policy.

Global is in default on the majority of its debt. It is trying to restructure almost $3 billion in loans.

The official says 40 jobs were cut across all the departments at its Kuwait headquarters, and the minimum salary cut was 5 percent. Global has operations elsewhere in the region.

مادري اذا كان عنوان هل البوست مثل و لا لا بس انشاء الله فهمتوا شقاعد اقول. في الوقت الحالي قاعدين نمر في ازمة اللي منحصرة في شركات الاستثمار و مجال عملها اللي يشمل البورصة و توابعها. بالمقابل عتندك ناس عاديين اللي مو متاثرين بهل الازمة بس ماسكين اياديهم خوفا و تحسبا لاي شي يمكن يحصل لبيزاتهم. مثل الدينار ينقلب من ازريق لين بني و يصير ربع! المهم سمعوا حلقتنا لهذا اليوم و قولوا لينا شرايكم

حثالة شركات الاستثمار و العقار

الكل حاس بالازمة العالمية حاليا بعد التفنيشات العقيمة اللتي صابت غلوبل و هي واحدة من (اشهر) شركات الاسثتمار الكويتية. هذه التفنيشات حصلت بعد الهبوط الحاد اللي طال مصادر رزق هذه الشركات التي تبين انها لا تعرف قوعها من بوعها في شي اسمه استثمار. المشكلة انه اللي يطيح في المشكلة المسكين انا و انت اللي موظفين طرقنا المعاش. و لا هذول اصحاب الشركات و مدرائها كانوا يعيشون على فلوس المساهمين برواتب وهمية و اللحين قاعدين يطرون من الحكومة تعالوا ساعدونا. المشكلة انه مو سامعين المثل الشهير (التجارة ربح و خسارة) لانه اغلبهم وصلوا المناصب اللي هم فيها لانهم عيال فلان و علان او من جماعة فلان و فلتان. المهم بعد الخساير المتخمة التي تكبدتها هذه الشركات قامت بالطبع بفرض حالات الاستعداد للتفنيش و ارويلكم اللي صار عندنا في الشركة العقارية اللي مدرجة في قطاع الخدمات

آول ما بدوا انه قالوا ترى مدير الشركة ما يحب التجمعات و لاحد يتكلم مع الثاني شكله ردينا ايم الغزو اللي ممنوع التجمعات

ثاني يوم قالوا لا يبه ترى كمبيوتراكم مراقبة و اللي يسوي شي غير الشغل ترى نشوف له صرفه المشكلة انه الشركه مافيها شغل خير شر غير طبعا المدراء اللي ما يدرون عن موظفينهم

ثالث شي سووا اللي قاموا قالوا لا يبه ماندري شنسوي يمكن نفنشكم يمكن نقص معاشاتكم

المشكلة انه كل اللي نسمعه هو قيل و قال و ماكو شي اكيد وحنا الموظفين عايشين على اعصابنا

رابع شي قالوا لا يبه مانبي نفنش احد و اللي راح يصير انه لازم تقدمون اجازات بدون راتب و اللي ما ياخذها ما نعطيه معاشه هل الشهر بس وعدونا انه الراتب ماراح ينقص منه شي

الكل وافق و وقع

خامس شي سووا بعد التوقيع قالوا لايبه غيرنا راينا الكل مخصوم

مع العلم تم اجبار الموظفين باخذ اجازة من دون راتب و اخذ خصم عليهم و من دون توقيع عقود جديدة

سادس شي نزلت الشركة تصريح صحفي انه مشاريعها ماشية عال العال في الامارات و مارا تتاخر

و انا ما اقول الا طيييييط

المهم

بنهاية الحديث انا مستعد اني اعيش من دون راتب على ان الحكومة ما تساعد هذه الشركات اللي يختالها اللعب و الغش و الافتراء و البوق من كبيرها لين صغيرها و كل على حساب المساهمين و حساب الموظفين

و اخر الحديث انا لله و انا اليه راجعون

السيد محمد الفالي خطيب وإمام المجلس الحسيني، شاءت أقدار التعصب الديني البغيض من التجمعات الإسلامية السنية أن تتهمه بالإساءة والتعرض للصحابة رضي الله عنهم.. وثارت ثائرة أصحاب اللحى من نواب الأمة {الكويتية} وتقدم ثلاثة منهم باستجواب رئيس مجلس الوزراء لأنه سمح له بدخول الكويت علما بأن لديه إقامة سارية المفعول لمدة ثلاث سنوات.. ورغم أنه متزوج من كويتية، وقد أحيل اتهامه إلى المحكمة ولم ينتظر النواب حكم المحكمة تطبيقا لنصوص الدستور الذي ينص على الفصل بين السلطات والذي أقسم عليه النواب الظلامون، لأن قسمهم، كما يعتقدون، من الممكن إلغاؤه بفتوى من أحدهم، فالدين احتكار في عقولهم فقط.. ليس هذا فحسب، بل انهم تقدموا باستجواب لرئيس مجلس الوزراء كان أحد محاوره السماح بدخول (المتهم) بسب الصحابة وطالبوا بترحيله من الكويت، وإلغاء اقامته وعدم السماح له بدخول الكويت مرة أخرى.. والمؤسف ان وزارة الداخلية استجابت لمطالبات النواب ورحّلته وألغت إقامته.. ليس هذا فحسب بل أن الحكومة بكاملها استقالت ولم يتحرك وزير ليقول لهؤلاء عليكم احترام الدستور الذي أقسمتم عليه ما دامت قضيته محالة إلى القضاء فإنه يجب عدم إثارتها وإلا اعتبر هذا تدخلا في شؤون القضاء.. والحمدلله أن لدينا قضاة من أمثال المستشار صالح المريشد الذي أصدر الحكم لا يخضعون لضغوطات نواب مجلس الأمة، فصدر حكم ببراءة السيد محمد الفالي.. وعليه نهنئ السيد محمد الفالي ومحاميه زميلنا علي البغلي على هذه النتيجة التي نطقت بها المحكمة.. ونتمنى من الحكومة الا تخضع لضغوطات بعض النواب لأنهم أصلاً معادون للديموقراطية.. والله من وراء القصد

if you were a fan of the Cowboy Bebop anime series, like me, then you’d love to hear this news. Twentieth Century Fox is bringing the Japanese anime TV series “Cowboy Bebop” to the big screen, with Keanu Reeves attached to star as a bounty hunter traveling through space in 2071.

One of the big titles in anime, “Bebop” is set in a time where “astral gates” make interstellar travel possible. Humanity, decimated by a lunar explosion resulting from a gate accident, spread out across the solar system, as did crime, which gave rise to the use of bounty hunters.

Reeves would play Spike Spiegel, a bounty hunter and former member of a crime syndicate. Spiegel, along with Jet Black, a fellow bounty hunter and former cop, are the two pilots of the spaceship Bebop.

دوام البنوك الجديد من 8 صباحاً إلى 4 مساء

البنوك تتفق على ساعات العمل الرسمي لجميع إداراتها، في حال موافقة بنك الكويت والشرق الأوسط على مطلب النقابة العامة للبنوك بشأن توحيد ساعات العمل وإلغاء نظام الدوامين.

أشارت مصادر مطلعة لـ«الجريدة» الى أن البنوك اتفقت على تحديد ساعات العمل الرسمي الجديدة للبنوك، والتي من المقرر أن تبدأ من الساعة الثامنة صباحاً وحتى الرابعة عصراً، مع فترة راحة في منتصف اليوم مدتها ساعة واحدة.

وأوضحت المصادر أنه سيتم تطبيق نظام الساعات الموحد بعد أن تتم موافقة بنك الكويت والشرق الأوسط، وهو البنك الوحيد الذي لم يعلن موافقته حتى الآن لمطلب النقابة العامة للبنوك بشأن توحيد ساعات العمل، وإلغاء نظام الدوامين، واشتراط مجموعة من البنوك بأن يطبق القرار على جميع البنوك من دون استثناء.

ومن المقرر أن يبدي بنك الكويت والشرق الأوسط موقفه من القرار في الأيام المقبلة قبل اجتماع اتحاد المصارف للتباحث بشأن موضوع توحيد ساعات العمل وإلغاء نظام الدوامين في جميع إدارات البنوك.

وحسب الاستفتاء الموجود في الموقع الإلكتروني للنقابة العامة للبنوك حول الوقت الأنسب لساعات العمل بمشاركة 933 شخصا، أن الفترة المفضلة هي ما بين الساعة 7.30 صباحاً حتى 3.30 ظهراً بنسبة 78 في المئة ، و9 في المئة أعطيت للفترة ما بين الساعة 8 صباحاً إلى 4 عصراً، أما نسبة المؤيدين للفترة ما بين الساعة 9 صباحاً إلى 5 مساء قد بلغت 11 في المئة.

Zain calls for telco union

Khalid Al-Hajri, CEO of Zain – Kuwait branch has called for the formation of a telecommunication union. He said that recent developments in the local market called for the establishment of such a union in order to organise telecom and Information Technology services. He added that with three telecom companies in the country, the establishment of a union would be a good step.

drove my younger brother to the airport the other night around 9 pm. left from there around 11:00 PM. it took me one hour and 15 minutes to just leave the parking garage! it was a disaster and it is not the first time. it took me once half an hour! i am not sure why it is like that! United Projects Company developed the new extension of the airport and i think they should have done a so called “traffic study” unless they are not aware of such concept. people usually do that for bigger projects like this one, or they knew but didn’t want to spend money on it!

I suggest not paying for parking to ease the traffic flow at the exists, because i ain’t paying money to pay for waiting in line!!!
