I had a little free time yesterday so i had to do something which was little productive, well may be. I looked up all the available packages offered by the mobile carriers in Kuwait and compared their prices and speeds. All i can say is that Wataniya supersede all other providers in price and speed. The source of the information is the providers’ site and if it wasn’t available i obtained the info via customer care.

I was watching Diggnation Episode 241 where Kevin and Alex mentioned David Cross‘s & Bob Odenkirk‘s Pussydoodles video clip. It is funny, can see below, but when you go and Google search the term”Pussydoodles” you get hit with Qualitynet’s block site!!! The problem is when you Google “Penis doodle” from Superbad the movie, you don’t get hit with the block!!! I think the filters are getting stronger and stronger and we all have to do something about them.

Hope they don’t block our site for this reason

Deera Chat is currently running Google Apps and using all Google standalone server services and it was and still working great without the need for a third party, especially companies like Qualitynet. I have been their client for almost 2 years and have not been satisfied with their services. If companies know and study the Apps services, they would realize the extra money they would pay for Qnet.

Qualitynet, Kuwait’s largest ISP and a total solutions provider, has become a Google Enterprise Partner. Qualitynet will offer Google Search Appliance as well as Google’s web-based Enterprise products such as Google Apps Premier Edition and E-mail Security and Archiving products in Kuwait.

Google has rolled out Google Buzz which is the social networking feature integrated right into your Gmail box, it doesn’t need set up, it just adds a new option to your list and enlists your contacts’ activities. It is more or a less a Google Reader interface but with more options. It doesn’t yet have facebook but Twitter, Reader, Youtube, Blogspot, Flickr are all there. lets see how it works

و الله وزارة المواصلات شادة الحيل و حاجبين 98 موقع اباحي خلال سنتين مثل ذكر في جريدة الوطن اليوم:

تمكنا على مدى العامين الماضيين بالتعاون مع الشركات المزودة لخدمات الانترنت من حجب ما يقارب (98) موقعا وهذا لا يعني انتهاء المشكلة، فتلك المواقع واصحابها اشبه بالفيروسات شديدة التكاثر، وهنا اشيد بدور الشركات المزودة وكذلك تفاعل ادارة مكافحة الجرائم الالكترونية مع وزارة المواصلات وتقديمهم الدعم اللازم لمكافحة هذه المواقع التي تبث السموم بالمجتمع.

على حسب تقرير التك كرنش من قبل 4 سنوات فانه يفتح ما يقرب 260 موقع يوميا. و غير هذا يعني في الف طريقة و طريقة تتخطى حواجز الوزارة و مثل الماي. المشكلة احنا في عهد مختلف و ما تقدر تصكر على عقول الناس باي طريقة كانت. الانفتاح اكبر من ان وزارة ما تقدر تحصل فلوسها من مشتركيها فما بالكم بحجب هل القدر من المواقع.

bing is the new live

Microsoft will be re branding its live.com search to bing.com which will be adding more features and function differently from live.com. being a hardcore Google.com fan it will be difficult for me to switch unless i see something different. you can read more about from the newsweek.com article

the engine will not be loaded with tones of text results … it will be showing more comprehensive results that will make you avoid navigating away from the search page … for example if you are searching for a camera .. it will give current prices … where to buy it from … and specs … and the search page will show 5-10 search results by deafult. all i can say fro now … lets just see!

Google Latitude: a way for you an your friends to know each others current location on Google Maps and yes it works in Kuwait

being a big Google Reader fan, i just noticed the comment feature which is AMAZiNG. we are slowly seeing Google Reader turning into Digg. You can submit your stories, comment on them and share them with friends …. I am guess the rumors we hear that Google is trying to purchase Digg will not be true after spicing the reader with more features.

we read on the 2nd of August in Al Qabas that the ministry of information just released a website called Kuwait-info.com where you find what you need to know about Kuwait. so we tried out the site and here is our review.

1- because of the fact i am a hotel expert, i looked at the hotels list in the site and found 5 hotels!! is that the number of hotels we have?? and the only so called 5 star hotel listed are the Crowne Plaze Kuwait and the Marriott Kuwait!!! Also they listed Ritz Kuwait, i thought the ministry is fighting piracy and thats one way of doing it … what a shame!

2- do we only have two organizations in the country!!?!?! Free Art Studio and The Kuwaiti Society of Formative Artists …

3- the whole site is missing information all over the place

BOTTOM Line if the ministry want to do something, they have to do it right or never do it …. they are just misrepresenting the country in a very bad way.

IMDB, Internet Movie Data Base, has movie indexes filtered by countries and Kuwait is one of them. The site lists 9 movies including “The Message” which was a partial Kuwaiti production. Anyway it is interesting that you can find “Basik Ya Ba7ar” listed among other movies.
