I will just open my own brackets first here if I may
(Did you notice the difference in interest between entertaining and fun topics and serious financial ones that could affect generations to come? I am comparing Deera to Dinar, with zero intention of starting local war I swear :)
I think the purpose of outside forum is explained then.Makes sense, but still has to have an alternative locally, preferably before the outside one.

For the matter of doing business in Kuwait, I really believe we should fix our regulations, paperwork and all before we invite westerns to jump in. I know an American who has his US company and doing contractual business, man powering, import/export in hundreds of thousands of dinars. Naturally money moves in and out quite frequently. Recently, all his accounts were frozen under money laundry suspicions, it’s taking him over a month without being able to get anything of his money. He has to present bills and all kinds of stuff to prove him self clear. Another thin he was told as an American, he is not allowed to hold large local accounts, and his last payment check is on hold for 45 days.

I know this is not directly related, but it’s an example of what could drive people of. Another Kuwaiti guy I met who seemed a trader in real estate. He was crazy mad about how slow and bad things work here. He told me all his business is in Emirates going fast and smooth, and that he made a mistake trying to do any business here.

Bashar: Thanks for the comment and your civil war flame between the chat family :) …. Just kidding. For between your brackets, all I can say is that the guys in deera chat are doing superb job by presenting well researched light topics that everyone can listen and relate to. In dinar chat, you said it, the topics are bit heavy and you have to have an interest in such topics to listen and comment on. But in any case, we are thankful at dinar chat that people like your mentality and knowledge listen to us and we appreciate the support. FLAME put to rest…. ;)
Back the topic, I agree with you that changing some stone aged regulations and laws MUST take place before any interest in investing in Kuwait begins. Yet at the same time, I think the move to organize similar forums outside Kuwait is a good start. The only problem is how many forums we have to have for an actual change to take a place. Cheers and God bless Kuwait…
